About QueerHouston

Who runs it

QueerHouston is an independent, volunteer-run guide. It is free to use, and it is not part of any venue, organization or government agency. We are proud supporters of Out at the Rodeo, but we are not part of that organization.

How listings are sourced

Every listing starts from a public source: the venue or organization's own site, Visit Houston's LGBTQ+ guide, Out x Out, OutSmart, or Harris County's resource list. We record that source with the listing and show it on the page. We do not guess at a date, price or hour. If we cannot confirm a detail, we leave it out or say so.

How listings are checked

New bars are added once at least two sources show they are open. When sources disagree, we say so on the page. Each venue page shows the date it was last checked. Health and crisis listings get extra care, but hours and services change, so please call before you travel.

Paid placements and donations

The guide is kept free by donations and optional featured placements. Paid placements are labeled Sponsored, and they do not change what we write about anyone. Crisis pages carry no paid links or fundraising.
