Drag in Houston, night by night

Where to find drag shows and drag brunch in Houston, by night of the week.

How to use this guide

Houston has drag somewhere on most nights of the week, but schedules move quickly. Performers change, shows take a break, and small bars often post their plans only on Instagram. We built this list from each venue's own information where we could, and from Out x Out's Houston drag guide, last updated in October 2026. If a show is the main reason for your trip, check with the venue that day. Bring small bills too, because tipping is how drag performers get paid for much of their work.

Monday

Monday is one of the best nights for drag in Montrose. Ripcord, the city's longtime leather bar, hosts Basura at 11 PM. Over at Michael's Outpost, The Broad's Way runs from 9 to 11:30 PM. The two make very different nights out: one is a late show in a leather bar, the other a piano bar with sing-alongs. Barcode also runs Magic Mic on Mondays.

Wednesday

Midweek, head to Barcode on Fairview St for HumpDay Honeys at 9 PM. This small dive bar has a real stage and a crowd close enough to tip without leaving their seats. It is an easy place to try if you have never been to a drag show. On some Tuesdays, Ripcord hosts Snatch'd with Reign Larue at 10:30 PM, with no cover. Check our events page for one-off shows on other nights.

Thursday

Thursday has the most options. Pearl Bar on Washington Ave hosts Drag Bingo at 9 PM, which is a good pick for a group and for anyone who wants to play along. Michael's Outpost has Laugh Track from 9 to 11:30 PM. Out x Out also lists So You Think You Can Drag, an amateur competition at JR's from 11 PM to 1 AM, but we could not confirm it from the bar itself, so check first. If you want a full night out, Fairview and Pacific are only a short ride from each other, and Pearl is across town on Washington Ave, so pick one area and stay there.

Sunday and drag brunch

Sunday is brunch day. The Montrose Country Club runs a drag brunch at 11 AM and 1 PM, and Out x Out lists Blackberri as its host. Book ahead, since the two seatings are a popular way to spend a Sunday. In the evening, Barcode has The Steam Room on the first and third Sundays of the month, and Out x Out lists a late Sunday show at JR's at 11 PM.

Two more brunches run less often. Chapman & Kirby, at 2118 Lamar St, hosts a monthly Queen Brunch. The Punch Line, at 1204 Caroline St, has listed Saturday shows on Nov 21 and Dec 19, 2026, with seating at 11 AM, the show at noon, and entry for ages 18 and over. Both are downtown, and both are general venues rather than LGBTQ+ bars, so check their sites for current dates and prices.

Tips for your first drag show

A few simple things make the night better. Arrive early if you want a good view, especially at small bars like Barcode. Tip performers directly and follow the host's lead on how it works in that room. Sit near the front only if you are happy to be part of the show, because the audience often gets pulled in. Ask before you take close-up photos. Most bars are 21 and over, so bring ID, and check the age limit if you are planning to bring younger friends to a brunch.

Drag also appears at community events through the year. Out at the Rodeo has featured drag shows at its main event and at fundraisers such as Pride Month Drag Bingo. See our Out at the Rodeo page and our events calendar for dated shows, and tell us about any regular night we have missed through the submit page.
