The Montrose Country Club

Restaurant, patio bar and seasonal pool club with a Sunday drag brunch.

What it's known for

The Montrose Country Club opened in 2025 at 202 Tuam St. It is a restaurant with a patio bar and a seasonal pool club, and it has become known in the community for its Sunday drag brunch. Out at the Rodeo held its Wild Wild Wet pool party here in July 2026. Think of it as a daytime and early-evening spot rather than a late-night bar, since it closes at 10 PM.

Regular nights

  • Sunday: drag brunch at 11 AM and 1 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday: open from 11 AM
  • Thursday and Friday: open from 4 PM
  • Seasonal: pool club, 21 and over

Lineups change. Check with the venue before you go.

Crowd and vibe

It runs as a restaurant first, with brunch and a pool on weekends and dinner hours on Thursday and Friday. It is not a gay bar in the traditional sense, but its drag brunch and community events make it a regular stop for LGBTQ+ Houston. Book ahead for brunch if you can, because the two seatings are the busiest part of the week. The pool is seasonal, so check the club's site before you pack a swimsuit. Out x Out lists Blackberri as the brunch host.

Getting there

Tuam St is on the edge of Midtown, a short ride from the Montrose bars. The club's website is the best place to check reservations, pool dates and any parking information, which we could not confirm ourselves. It is closed Monday through Wednesday, so plan around that. Call 346-227-8613 with questions about private events or group bookings. Do not confuse it with a golf club: despite the name, this is a city restaurant.
