Neon Boots Dancehall & Saloon

LGBTQ+ country-western dancehall northwest of the Loop, with dance lessons and karaoke.

What it's known for

Neon Boots Dancehall & Saloon is Houston's LGBTQ+ country-western dancehall, at 11410 Hempstead Rd northwest of the Loop. Unlike the Montrose bars, this is a proper dance floor built for two-stepping. It offers free dance lessons, which makes it a good choice even if you have never tried line dancing, and its Esquire Room hosts karaoke for anyone who would rather sing. Happy hour runs from Thursday to Saturday, and the club opens at 5 PM on each of the nights it trades.

Regular nights

  • Thursday: free dance lessons
  • Thursday through Saturday: happy hour, 5 to 8 PM
  • Esquire Room: karaoke
  • Monday and Wednesday: closed

Lineups change. Check with the venue before you go.

Crowd and vibe

People come here to dance, and the free lessons make it a sensible first stop for beginners. You do not need boots or a partner to try it: lessons are the easy way in, and the karaoke room gives you a break between songs. Visit Houston lists dance lessons on Saturdays too, so check the club's site for this week's schedule. If you loved the country side of Out at the Rodeo, this is where to keep that going all year.

Getting there

Neon Boots is well away from Montrose, so it is a drive or a longer rideshare, not a stop on a bar crawl. That is also why the venues listed below as nearby are not especially close. We could not confirm parking details, so check the club's site before your first visit. Hours listed here come from Out x Out, and the club is at 832-582-5022.
